Hi all
I have a 2007 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp with a Fox Triad rear shock. The Triad broke and I sent it off for repair only to be told that it will cost £120+ to repair. Having looked on CRC it seems I may be able to buy a better shock for £60 more anyway so I am thinking of doing this instead of having the triad repaired. The problem is that I do not know what size the triad is and it is currently in the workshop - does anyone know what size it would be and therefore what size my replacement needs to be? Also is there anything else I need to buy or know before fitting a shock from CRC (I'm looking at all the sub £200 ones they have hoping that they have the right size once I know what that is). Thank you

  • Spech tend to list the sizes on their webby. or ask Mojo what size it is
you will also need the correct fitting kit for the shock and the bike.

  • Thanks, will I be able to use the fitting kit from the triad? Unfortunately I have not been able to find the answer on the specialized site so will have to wait till Tuesday to call the workshop
  • I have found out that it measures 184.2mm eye to eye with 44.5mm stroke. The problem is that I can only seem to find shocks for sale which are 190mm x 50mm - would this be a problem?
  • yes as it's not the correct size, trouble with shocks on some specialized is they are an odd size (as you've found out!)
  • ok, so I managed to source an RP23 from the US in the right size now how do I know what size bushing kit to buy? the frame is a 2007 stumpjumper comp and the shock is a Fox RP23. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

  • My Stumpjumper Comp is the same year as yours OP and also came with a Triad rear shock as standard. I think these do eventually fail as it happened to the previous owner of my bike and he also had to replace with an RP23 which I have been running with no issues for a couple of years.
